The only R8 our snappers have caught testing around Nurbrugring in years is starting some interesting rumors about whether this is an R8 at all.
This prototype that could be both a refreshed version of the R8 GT , or possibly even the R8 GT Plus. However, today another mysterious R8 appeared screaming around the famous track. From what we can see it could be a an even more aerodynamic version of the new R8 GT. This particular prototype had a big rear wing and a very different diffuser.
No details are offered on the engine to be found under the hood, but the base R8 GT is powered by a 5.2-liter V-10 engine that delivers a total of 560 horsepower and 398 pound-feet of torque at 6,500 rpm.
With this amount of power the GT can sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 3.6 seconds and up to a top speed of 198 mph.
Perhaps the better question might be:
Is that an R8 at all? The first-gen R8 headlights seem like a clever disguise from Audi ... but time will tell.
