Infiniti Supercar to Arrive in 2017

9:19 AM
The long-awaited Infiniti supercar is drawing closer and closer to making its debut. No official date was given on an arrival date, that is until now. According to a new report by Autocar, Infiniti appears set to launch its supercar sometime between 2017 and 2018.
That’s the awesome news. What’s still murky is details surrounding the car’s aesthetics, something Infiniti’s European boss, Fintan Knight, admits is still in the "layout evaluation" phase. Rumors have pointed to styling influences attributed to the Essence and Emerg-e, which would be really awesome if that were the case.
Likewise, the supercar’s powertrain is still being discussed, although the prevailing thought seems to point to a V-6 engine that will work in sync with an electric motor.
You can also expect a certain level of F1 knowledge that will be used on the supercar, a luxury afforded by the brand’s involvement with Red Bull Racing and reigning F1 champion and current Director of Performance, Sebastian Vettel.
It certainly goes without saying that Infiniti’s recent model expansion is attributed to the company’s plans to become more of a player in the industry. A number of new models are already being prepared for debuts in the coming years with the unquestioned highlight being the "still-in-development" supercar that will show its face for the first time as early as 2017.
