If you’re wondering what the next installment of Bugatti’s Legends Series is going to be, the French automaker may have given an indication with the filing for trademark of the Rembrandt Bugatti name.
If you’re not familiar on the name, Rembrandt is actually the younger brother of Bugatti founder Ettore Bugatti and he’s also the man responsible for designing the famous hood ornament on the Bugatti Type 41 Royale .
So why is this all important on this otherwise innocuous October day? Well, it appears that the next Veyron to be included in the Legends Series will bear the Rembrandt Bugatti name, following Jean-Pierre Wimile and Jean Bugatti in that ultra exclusive club.
The patent application was apparently filed with the European Union’s Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market by Audi ’s intellectual property office for Bugatti. We doubt that Bugatti has a new model in the pipeline that will carry the Rembrandt name, so it seems that the move to trademark the name fits right in line with Bugatti’s recent run of special edition Veyrons.
