Apparently, the McLaren P1 ’s Nurburgring lap times is still a mystery, and we’re not sure why McLaren is still keeping it a secret. Back in October 2013, a video showed a P1 supercar lapping the ’Ring in 6 minutes and 47 seconds, but back in September, more rumors suggested that the 2014 McLaren P1 lapped the Nurburgring track in 7:04 .
Now, according to AutoCar, it looks like the P1 actually lapped the ’Ring in closer to the 6:30 mark. Apparently the British magazine got their info from a McLaren insider during a recent test drive of the supercar .
In talking about the car’s rumored 6:47 lap time, this McLaren insider said that the P1 is "a fair bit quicker than that." This likely means that it is faster than the likes of the Porsche 918 Spyder, which lapped the same ring in 6:57 .
