Hyundai Working on a Performance Version Of The V-8 Genesis

6:20 AM
The new-generation Hyundai Genesis was unveiled earlier this month at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show, and it came with a few surprises, including an updated look, a new platform and the availability of an advanced HTRAC AWD system. What’s strange is that this new system will only be offered with the 3.8-liter V-6 version, not in the more powerful V-8 version.

At a first glance, this may seem like a strange move, but in a recent interview with Autoguide, Hyundai ’s spokesman Miles Johnson revealed that this move was made because Hyundai is considering a performance-focused Genesis that will feature the Tau 5.0-liter V-8 and the HTRAC all-wheel-drive system. This performance model is still being discussed and is not yet given the green light, but if it gets the "go," it should arrive a few months after the base version.

Hyundai’s spokesman did not reveal if this new model will be offered with more power than the standard V-8, but he did confirm there will be improvements to the chassis and lateral grip.
