Lamborghini Gallardo Recall in UK

3:35 AM
A Lamborghini Gallardo recall means 143 cars in the UK will need to be taken back to a dealer because of a potential fault with the rear brake discs. The Lamborghini Gallardo models affected were built between January 2007 and May 2009.

According to Lamborghini, the fault means that on some Gallardo cars there is a possibility that the rear brake discs may come off. This fault only occurs on vehicles fitted with carbon ceramic brakes, as the stainless steel screws may fail due to stress corrosion cracking. If the disc loses more than 8 screws there would be diminished braking performance at the wheel.
Lamborghini is recalling the affected Gallardo cars in the UK - both the Lamborghini Gallardo Coupe and the Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder - and replacing the stainless steel screws with a screw of a different material.

Owners of the affected vehicles are being notified, and if you believe you may have one of the affected vehicles, Lamborghini are urging you to go to your local authorised dealer.

There have been no incidents reported in the UK - so far - in relation to this recall.

The Lamborghini Gallardo is fitted with four airbags as standard, as well as stability control and huge brakes. That’s just as well, because the 552bhp 5.2-litre V10 engine can take the car from 0-60mph in 3.7 seconds and on to a top speed of 202mph.

The Lamborghini Gallardo price is over £135,000, but it shouldn’t be for sale for much longer – there’s an expected replacement called the Cabrera just around the corner.
