The Frankfurt Motor Show is just around the corner and we’re seeing a trickling of previews and teasers from various automakers regarding models that are set to make their world debuts in Germany next month.
Infiniti is coming to Frankfurt and as early as now, the Japanese automaker is giving us a taste of one of the concept models it’s bringing to the dance. It’s called the Q30 Concept and its been described as a preview of a future compact car coming from the Nissan sub-brand.
The production version is still a long ways away from hitting dealerships so whatever we see at Frankfurt could still receive a host of changes. But given the teaser Infiniti has rolled out of the concept, you kind of get the feeling that the concept is going to be making some heads turn in a month’s time.
The design of the Q30 Concept looks sharp and appears to have been designed with plenty of inspiration from other Infiniti concepts from previous years, including the Etherea. Incidentally, the latter was also a compact concept that was introduced a few years ago.
One of the few details we have of the Q30 Concept is that it will carry the same front-wheel-drive platform that you can find in the new Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class. That’s not a coincidence, considering that the two brands joined forces a few years ago to share some of its technology and development know-how with each other. The engine for the concept will likely come in the form of a hybrid although don’t be surprised if the production version opts for the more traditional four-cylinder engine.
Another curious tidbit about the Q30 Concept is the involvement of Infiniti’s director of performance, Sebastian Vettel. Yep, the reigning F1 world champion will be heavily involved in the development of the production model so that’s something we can all look forward to as well. Expect more details to be announced involving the Q30 Concept when it makes its world debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show next month.
Infiniti has revealed the first real image of the Q30 Concept today. Infiniti categorizes the Q30 as a mixture of a coupe, hatchback and crossover and that it’s a radical shift in compact car designing. The Q30 will be unveiled at 10:15 am CET on September 10th in Hall 5 at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
