In modern days, when a supercar does not use carbon fiber in its development, it cannot be consider a “real” supercar. The use of this material makes every model significantly lighter when compared to the use of any other material, but it also increases the price significantly.
But carbon fiber is not only being used in the development of supercar. The same material is being used in high-performance airplanes. Lamborghini has unveiled a very cool video presenting how the carbon fiber is used in the development of its latest Aventador supercar and the Boeing 787 Dreamliner. Not a surprising comparison considering the Aventador has been inspired by the world of jet-fighters - more exactly the F22 Raptor.
For the Aventador, carbon fiber has been used for the monocoque, body and chassis, ceramic brake system and numerous parts of the aerodynamic package. See how it improves the performance numbers of the Aventador by watching this video.
