Chevrolet Camaro 20th Anniversary Edition by Hennessey 2012

2:37 AM

Hennessey Performance has been alive and kicking for 20 years and as is tradition with anniversaries like this, you can expect a special edition model to be part of the festivities.
In the two decades that it’s been around, Hennessey has grown into one of the leading aftermarket tuners in the world, and to commemorate their 20th anniversary, the company is coming out with a limited edition run of theChevrolet Camaro SS HPE650. Called the "20th Anniversary" model, the 20-piece muscle car will be available in either coupe or convertible variants and is being made as a tribute not only to the company but also to the dedicated and loyal fan-base it has had since it broke into the tuning scene back in 1991.
"We wanted to build something special for our clients and production will be limited to just 20 vehicles. Each one will have it’s own serial number", said Hennessey CEO, Don Goldman.
"For over 20 years, HPE has been making fast cars go faster. We are excited to celebrate this milestone with a very special car".

Design

Looking the part of a special edition model, the black-on-black dressed Camaro SS 20th Anniversary Edition will come with plenty of aftermarket body parts to make it distinguishable from every other Hennessey-tuned Camaro on the market today. Among the additions to the muscle car’s aesthetic profile include a CarbonAero front splitter and side skirts, HPE650 exterior badging, 20th Anniversary Edition serial numbered dash & engine plaques, and a new set of Hennessey monoblock wheels in either chrome or silver finish. Inside, the car comes dressed with a black leather interior, 20th Anniversary Edition floor mats, and Hennessey embroidered headrests.

Performance

The Chevrolet Camaro SS 20th Anniversary Edition is powered by a 6.2-liter V8 engine that has been supercharged by the tuning firm courtesy of its TVS2300 supercharger system. The system is then complimented by a host of other Hennessey performance parts, including an air induction system, high-flow cylinder heads, an HPE650 camshaft upgrade, stainless steel long tube headers, high-flow catalytic converters, stainless steel mid-pipes, a high flow fuel injector upgrade, and a 160-degree thermostat. Add up all the changes and the Camaro SS now produces 655 horsepower with a 0-60 mph acceleration time of just 3.7 seconds.

Pricing

Hennessey has priced the 20th Anniversary Edition Camaro SS at $79,500 for the hardtop coupe version and $84,500 for the convertible version.
